Understanding urban mobility is the first thing cities need to do when planning for urban mobility. Hence, it is essential to understand what data is required to conduct an evidence-based status quo analysis of your city’s mobility system, and what such a status quo looks like. Futhermore, it is important to face the challenges of collecting data after the covid-19 pandemic and the consequences of low-data environments for sustainable urban mobility planning.

This session draws from the experience of the Partnership supporting the city of Medan, Indonesia, in developing a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. Here are the answers to three interesting questions from this insightful session based on the diagnosis phase in Medan:
