The MobiliseYourCity Asia program focuses on addressing the specific challenges of the countries and cities which are enrolled in the program, within the strategic framework of the MobiliseYourCity Partnership.
The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) allocated a 5 million euros grant in 2019 for the programme's first phase. Under this first phase the following activities will be executed among others: implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs), concept studies for priority projects as well as communicating and raising awareness on events and activities.
The MobiliseYourCity Asia programme is jointly implemented by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), in close coordination with the MobiliseYourCity Global Secretariat and MobiliseYourCity's active partners in Asia.
A first exchange, building on AFD and ADB local representations in the region, is ongoing with several cities which have expressed their interest to benefit from the programme. So far, three cities are already benefitting from a technical and financial support under the programme: Kurunegala (Sri Lanka), Tbilisi (Georgia) and Peshawar (Pakistan). Those cities all joined the MobiliseYourCity Partnership in 2019. The support is currently focused on the preparation of SUMPs and the identification of priority projects. The first phase of MobiliseYourCity Asia programme will provide support to a total number of 6 to 8 cities in the region, over a period of maximum 3 years. A second phase of the programme is planned for once the first phase is completed.
