Webinar presentation on Paratransit in Asia, a regional contribution to understand and pave the way to reform, and to share practical solutions

The Programme Management Unit MobiliseYourCity Asia (including Espelia and Codatu), with the support and collaboration of Agence Française de Développement (AFD), held a special webinar on 15th June 2022 to present the publication entitled “Paratransit in Asia: Scalable Solutions to Reform, Modernise and Integrate” (available here on the MobiliseYourCity Knowledge Platform).

This online event dedicated to the MobiliseYourCity Asia Community of Practice presented key takeaways of this work that proposes a comprehensive diagnosis of paratransit in Asia, highlights Asian singularities and introduces guidance to transform paratransit at different levels (i.e. national, local and project levels).

Aligned with the recommendations presented in the publication, and thanks to the participation of high-level speakers, this webinar was also an occasion to share practical solutions to pave the way to paratransit sector reform and integration. In particular, the case of the construction of the first BRT line in Peshawar (Pakistan) was presented, which included a specific paratransit restructuring programme (with a scrapping and compensation sub-programmes), as well as the case of the Trufi Association that proposes digital solutions to map paratransit services with an open-source approach to local authorities.
