The MobiliseYourCity Secretariat is looking for a Communications and Events Intern. If you speak English and French, are interested in NGOs, and are passionate about sustainability, you might be the person we are looking for.  

The MobiliseYourCity Partnership

Launched at COP21 in Paris, the MobiliseYourCity Partnership is a leading global Partnership for sustainable mobility of nearly 100 partners, including 83 cities and 16 countries. The Partnership is supported by the European Union, the French Ministry of Ecological Transition (MTE), the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM), the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) which are working in collaboration to enable positive global transformation.    

The nine implementing and knowledge partners, led by AFD and GIZ, work with cities and countries worldwide to develop scalable solutions that improve mobility in complex environments.    

Since February 2017, the MobiliseYourCity Secretariat, staffed by CODATU and GIZ, works in Brussels to coordinate the Partnership’s activities, including communication, monitoring and reporting, partnership management, fundraising and consolidating technical expertise.  

The advertised internship position will be part of the CODATU team within the MobiliseYourCity secretariat and funded by AFD.  

Main Internship tasks  

  • Play an active supporting role in the coordination and delivery of MobiliseYourCity’s 10-year anniversary activities in September 2026, including logistics, stakeholder coordination, speaker support, visibility materials, and event-related communications.  
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of communication activities across online and offline channels, including the creation, publication, and distribution of content for social media, newsletters, publications, Mailchimp campaigns, and other outreach materials.  
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of other MobiliseYourCity events and partner activities, including webinars, steering committee meetings, and trainings.  
  • Contribute to the updating and maintenance of MobiliseYourCity’s trilingual website, and support translation and editorial work for newsletters, knowledge products, and other communication outputs.  
  • Monitor developments in sustainable urban mobility and produce short knowledge and communication materials based on desk research, partner project activities, and internal content.  
  • Support the creation of presentations, visual communication materials, and other digital assets, using Adobe software where relevant.  
  • Contribute to social media analytics reporting and support the continuous improvement of digital communication activities.  
  • Provide administrative and organisational support as needed, including contact and mailing list management.  

Requirements  

  • Ongoing or recently completed university studies in communications, journalism, international relations, political science, social sciences, or related fields. Master’s level studies are an asset.  
  • Great communicator, with excellent writing and visual skills.  
  • Fluency in English and French; knowledge of Spanish and/or German is an asset.   
  • Strong interest in sustainable development, urban mobility, and international cooperation; familiarity with climate policy or development cooperation is an asset.  
  • Structured, independent, and reliable working style, with autonomy, proactivity, and the ability to use information and data effectively.   
  • Good knowledge of standard Office programmes (especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), as well as design software (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Photoshop), and openness to AI tools. Experience with project management tools (e.g. Monday) is an asset.  
  • Affinity for digital media and communication formats (e.g. social media, websites), combined with strong organisational skills and a reliable, team-oriented way of working.  
  • Ability to work in a decentralised international and multicultural environment    

Desirable Criteria 

  • Initial practical experience in communications, public relations, content creation, and/or event coordination is considered an asset, particularly in an international or sustainability-focused environment.   
  • Experience in content creation for digital channels, such as social media, newsletters, or websites.   
  • Experience in organising and implementing events, both online and on-site.   
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing new communication formats and ideas.   

Conditions of employment  

  • Location : Global Secretariat of the MobiliseYourCity Partnership, in Brussels. Potential international travel for in person events (mostly within Europe).  
  • Starting date: May 2026 
  • Duration : 6 months  
  • Contract : Contrat d’insertion professionnelle under Belgian law.  
  • Compensation: 1,350 EUR gross per month.
