In light of the increasing importance of urban logistics and freight, we have compiled a list of resources that can help local and national authorities and other stakeholders to transform their logistics systems, increasing efficiency and aligning with SDGs and climate targets.
The compilation includes more than 60 publications from various organisations, spanning from local case studies to broader recommendations with a wide range of applicability. It is organised in an Excel file to facilitate the filtering of specific publications according to e.g. the type of publication, its geographical focus or topics included.
Interesting examples include:
EcoLogistics Low Carbon Action Plan for Urban Freight (LCAP-UF) by ICLEI, Despacio, Zaragoza Logistics Center and the Smart Freight Centre (2021), a guidebook created to provide local governments with a roadmap for enhancing low-carbon freight movement and operations in Global South geographies;
The Developers’ Guide to Planning and Designing Logistics Centers in Carec Countries by ADB (2023), a guideline aiming to fill knowledge gaps for planning and delivery of logistics projects;
Urban logistics hubs: Six case studies by ITF (2024), presenting insightful examples from Tokyo, Paris, London, Rotterdam, Sao Paolo and Vietnam.
While this document proves that there already is a strong knowledge base on sustainable and efficient urban logistics and freight solutions, the Secretariat also recognises a lack of resources tailored to MobiliseYourCity geographies. Future research should work towards closing that gap, in particular considering the emphasis of the Global Gateway strategy on logistics.
The compilation isn't finite and will be updated regularly. If you want to suggest publications to be added to the compilation, reach out to contact@mobiliseyourcity.net.
