ADB, AFD and MobiliseYourCity discuss Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning in Phnom Penh (Cambodia)

On November 15, 2023, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and MobiliseYourCity conducted a stakeholder consultation seminar to discuss the strategic direction of urban mobility planning in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, following its inclusion in the Partnership in February 2023. The seminar aimed to address urban transport challenges caused by traffic growth and reliance on private vehicles and to achieve a sustainable and inclusive urban transport system. The seminar was an excellent opportunity to gather MobiliseYourCity Implementing Partners such as ADB and AFD and to pursue the dialogue initiated with the Phnom Penh Capital Administration (PPCA), as well as key institutions such as the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) from Cambodia and the Phnom Penh City Bus Authority.

The morning sessions allowed participants to gain an overview of the mobility challenges that Phnom Penh is facing. The involvement of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) offered insights into the ongoing update of the current Urban Transport Master Plan. Additionally, representatives from ADB, AFD, and MobiliseYourCity shared perspectives on trends to facilitate the transition towards sustainable urban mobility.
