Description:

Across the world, mobility systems often fail to account for the diverse needs of women and other marginalised groups. Yet, gender is one of the most significant factors influencing how people move, why they travel, and what barriers they encounter. Mainstreaming gender in urban mobility planning is not about adding a few inclusive measures—it's about rethinking priorities, collecting better data, designing safer, more accessible systems, and making decisions that reflect the lived experiences of all users. Gender-responsive Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) can help cities address inequalities, improve safety, support economic participation, and ensure that mobility contributes to broader social and environmental sustainability.

This webinar marks the official launch of MobiliseYourCity’s new Topic Guide on Gender Mainstreaming in Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs). The guide offers a comprehensive approach to integrating gender at every stage of the SUMP process, from diagnostics to implementation. During the session, participants will be introduced to its key concepts and tools, hear from the authors, and explore how cities are already applying these practices in the field.
