With the rapid growth of Indian cities, the demand for urban mobility is increasing. Due to the absence of efficient public transportation facilities and the impact of COVID-19 in Indian cities, the public transportation systems have observed a hit in terms of users' willingness to opt for public transport for daily commuting. This tendency has affected users' behaviour, leading to an increase in dependency on personalised vehicles, eventually resulting in increased parking demand. Today, most Indian cities are observed to be facing the challenge to accommodate the exponential growth of parking demand. 

This session seeks to address the arising issue of parking in Indian cities and establish the need for an effective parking policy along with measures to overcome such issues while drawing on case examples. The overall objective of the session is to help authorities understand the way forward by analyzing and advocating interventions like Parking Management Plans, Parking Policy and Institutional coordination with the view of attaining sustainable development and achieving a better quality of life in Indian cities.
