Welcome to the MobiliseYourCity Knowledge Platform!

The MobiliseYourCity Partnership empowers cities to improve mobility for their citizens and decarbonise transport to fight the global climate crisis. The Partnership is a multi-donor action, co-financed by the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO), the French Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition (MTES), the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM), the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Construction and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) and the French Development Agency (AFD). The initiative is implemented by its founding partners: ADEME, AFD, CEREMA, CODATU and GIZ. Our partner cities and countries are local and national governments committed to improve sustainable mobility.

A diverse partnership for greater impact

Today, the Partnership has 60 partner cities with a combined population of over 75 million people in 32 countries, and we have 14 partner countries. With 36 million euros to support mobility planning (SUMPs and NUMPs) in 30 cities and 10 countries, the first projects completed in 2019 have mobilised 811 million euros for concrete sustainable mobility projects.

By assisting cities and countries in the planning and implementation of effective measures to decarbonize urban transport, the Partnership supports the goals set forth under the UNFCCC dialogue and many urban-related goals specified in the New Urban Agenda as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, we contribute to the following goals:

  • SDG 11 “Makes cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”
  • SDG 3.6 “By 2020, halve the number of deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents”
  • SDG 8.4 “Endeavour to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation”
  • SDG 9 “Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure”
  • SDG 13.2 “Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning”
  • SDG 17.3 “Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development”
  • We also support countries in meeting their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) targets by reducing GHG emissions

The MobiliseYourCity Partnership supports partner cities and countries through 3 main service areas:

1. Technical assistance to conduct SUMPs and NUMPs

Our Implementing Organizations, like the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), are working with cities and countries all over the world to develop scalable solutions to improve mobility in complex environments. They support local and national governments in developing SUMPs and NUMPs.

Find out more about our core methodologies here.

2. Methodologies and capacity building:

Tested and scalable solutions

The MobiliseYourCity Partnership builds on the expertise from all its partners to develop tools and methodologies that are then tested on the ground and consistently improved based on feedback.

We help share, improve and spread technical and methodological resources to develop capacity to plan, finance and implement sustainable mobility solutions through our online Knowledge Platform.

In-person and online trainings

To equip cities and countries to implement sustainable mobility solutions, we give them access to in-person and online trainings on topics such as:

  • The MobiliseYourCity Emissions Calculator
  • Mobilised Cities: Local governments share their experience elaborating a SUMP
  • Building capacity: everything you need to start a SUMP

Check out the list of upcoming trainings and webinars here.

An online Knowledge Platform open for all

Thanks to the contribution of the European Union, the MobiliseYourCity Knowledge Platform provides cities and countries with all the necessary information to develop their capacity to plan, finance and implement sustainable mobility solutions through access to tools and methodologies, updates from the sustainable mobility scene, or examples from local actors taking action.

Browse through our online library of knowledge products.

To allow local partners to share their experience and get access to the latest knowledge on sustainable mobility, we are giving them the opportunity to exchange information and experiences with other cities and countries through our online social platform.

Access here the Latin American Online Community of Practice (Spanish)

3. Advocacy through outreach and communication

Because we are convinced by the necessity to convey local needs and experience to the global scene and agenda, we work to ensure cities and countries experiences and needs are communicated at global events and showcase their work in such arenas, either through direct participation or through our publications and on our online media.
